Six civic agents will ensure coexistence and inform about municipal services in the different neighborhoods of Reus. This initiative is part of employment plans, with contracts lasting one year. Their main role will be to guide citizens, promote civic habits, and detect incidents in various areas of the city, in coordination with security forces.
The mayor of Reus, Sandra Guaita, explained that the agents will work with residents to identify issues and will carry out preventive tasks, as people often act incorrectly not consciously but due to ignorance of certain services or rules.
The agents will provide information on municipal campaigns and identify issues related to cleaning, urban maintenance, and the use of public space. However, they do not have the power to issue sanctions. The Councilor for Public Way, Daniel Marcos, stated that their role is to warn, inform, and report to municipal departments situations requiring action.
The agents will work in pairs and cover all neighborhoods. This initiative is part of employment plans that already provide jobs for 42 people. Councilor for General Services, Manel Muñoz, highlighted that it not only offers employment opportunities but also addresses a citizen demand for improved civility and coexistence, through educational work.
Before starting, the agents are undergoing training in civics, communication, citizen service, mediation, conflict management, emergency protocols, knowledge of municipal services, and identification of vulnerable situations. Local authorities are considering expanding the team in the future.
