Meteocat recorded wind gusts exceeding 100 km/h in Baix Camp this Wednesday, as Civil Protection activates the Ventcat alert across Catalonia.

Wind gusts have exceeded 100 km/h at a dozen meteorological stations until noon this Wednesday. In Baix Camp, the Miami Platja station reached 107.3 km/h, while in Montsià, Mas de Barberans reached 106.6 km/h. The highest record was at Puig Sesolles, in Vallès Oriental, with 139.7 km/h.
In the city of Reus, the Fire Department responded to a total of fourteen calls due to the strong winds. Despite the number of incidents, none were serious, focusing mainly on removing unstable elements or fallen branches from public roads.
The Ventcat plan alert remains active as Westerly and Gregal winds are expected to continue blowing strongly. Authorities urge caution, especially for Thursday, when maximum danger is forecast for much of Catalonia, including the Barcelona area and the Tarragona coast.
