The Catalan Traffic Service has announced a ban on heavy vehicles over 7.5 tonnes on the AP-7 highway between Cambrils and Amposta this Thursday, February 19, 2026.

The arrival of Storm Pedro is expected to bring dangerous wind gusts to the Tarragona region. Restrictions will be in place for 12 hours, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, affecting all high-capacity roads in the southern part of Catalonia.
Trucks must stay in the right lane, are forbidden from overtaking, and must not exceed 80 km/h. While the AP-7 section is closed to them, drivers are advised to use the N-340 or the A-7 motorway as alternative routes.
These preventive measures follow lessons learned from Storm Oriana, when two trucks overturned near l'Hospitalet de l'Infant. One incident blocked the highway for 34 hours as extreme winds prevented cranes from operating safely.
