“"The project will not succeed if the closest territory does not believe in it, does not know it, and does not participate in it. It is extremely important, as much as having a lot of money behind it. Sometimes, money alone is not capable of making people love this space. It is important that people are proud that this project moves forward."

The Bongolf tourist and golf complex, formerly Bonmont in Mont-roig del Camp, has announced the start of its operations for 2026, backed by an investment exceeding 50 million euros and the creation of 200 jobs.
The business groups Costa and Arum Group presented their future plans for the complex this Saturday, which include the opening of the luxury hotel before the summer of 2027. They are currently negotiating to secure an international operator to manage the hotel, a facility that never became operational in the past.
The golf course, which was active years ago, expects to have its first holes available by the end of this year. The total projected investment exceeds 50 million euros, and 200 jobs are anticipated, with 90% of these expected to be filled by residents from nearby towns.
The project, which began in the 1990s, has had a complex history involving several legal disputes. The new owners have expressed their ambition to transform Bongolf into the best golf course in Catalonia and the best hotel in the region outside of Barcelona.
In addition to the main facilities, the investors plan to construct their own regenerated water treatment plant and a photovoltaic plant to optimize natural resources, emphasizing the sustainability of the proposal. The Minister of Business and Labor, Miquel Sàmper, has described the initiative as a "country project".
