Around thirty farmers affiliated with Unió de Pagesos staged a tractor protest on Monday in Reus to denounce the severe drought and the lack of resolution regarding aid for uprooting dead trees.

The protest, which started in Riudoms, culminated in the center of the Baix Camp capital with strong symbolic actions. Demonstrators placed dead hazelnut trees at the entrance of the Department of Agriculture offices.
Furthermore, the farmers burned some of these dry trees in front of the Aigües de Reus headquarters, symbolizing crop losses and the sector's despair over the lack of water resources.

"The resolutions from last year linked to aid for uprooting trees killed by the drought have not yet been released, and we do not know if we will collect them."

Sergi Claramunt · Territorial Coordinator of UP
Sergi Claramunt, UP's territorial coordinator for Camp de Tarragona, highlighted the economic uncertainty. The Government stated that the procedures are underway, but they depend on the 2026 budget and are expected to be resolved in February.
