The Governing Council of the Tarragona university greenlit the proposal on December 18. This initiative stems from a request by the Official College of Pharmacists of Tarragona (COFT), which highlighted the need to incorporate professionals locally and prevent students from having to travel to Barcelona.
The new degree lasts five years and comprises 300 credits, 30 of which are dedicated to supervised practical training in pharmacies or hospitals. The goal is to train experts in all aspects related to medicines, in line with European professional directives. Several scientific departments of the URV will be involved in the teaching.
In addition to the new degree approval, the Governing Council also approved the call for prioritizing 21 promotion positions for university professors. Furthermore, the URV budget for 2026 was approved, amounting to 151,783,663 euros, a 4.12% increase over the previous year, along with the recovery of the Predepartmental Unit of Architecture.
