This new academic offering, which still requires final validation by the Generalitat de Catalunya, is being implemented at the request of the Official College of Pharmacists of Tarragona (COFT). The goal is to meet the need for professionals in the region and prevent local students from having to travel to Barcelona to pursue these studies.
The planned duration of the studies is five years, totaling 300 credits. Of these, 30 credits will be dedicated to supervised internships, which can be carried out in both pharmacies and hospital centers. The URV departments involved in teaching will include Basic Medical Sciences, Medicine and Surgery, Physical and Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical and Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, and Business Management.
The degree aims to train experts in all aspects related to medicines, in accordance with European directives concerning the pharmaceutical profession.
During the same governing council meeting held this Thursday, the URV also approved the call for 21 promotion positions for both university professor (catedràtic d'universitat) and contracted professor figures. The deadline for submitting applications opens on December 19 and closes on January 16.
Furthermore, the URV budget for 2026 was approved, amounting to 151,783,663 euros, representing a 4.12% increase compared to the previous academic year. Finally, the recovery of the Predepartmental Unit of Architecture was approved, an essential step toward the future creation of the Department of Architecture.
