Welcome sessions for the new pairs were held at the Antic Hospital de Sant Joan de Reus on Thursday, October 22nd, and at the Centre Cultural de Cambrils on Monday, October 26th. During these events, participants received information about the program's operation, support materials, and thanks for their involvement. Daniel Recasens, president of the CNL and councillor for Culture and Linguistic Policy of the Reus City Council, highlighted VxL as a key tool for integration and practicing Catalan.
Currently, the program has 65 active language pairs in Reus and 22 in Cambrils. These pairs meet regularly to converse in Catalan, improving fluency and confidence in language use. The program continues to be well-received, as it allows for Catalan practice outside the classroom and facilitates the integration of new speakers.
In addition to individual meetings, VxL offers organized activities to supplement language practice. In Reus, the Xalem program includes a visit to the Bellmunt del Priorat mines on November 7th and a theatrical improvisation workshop on December 3rd. Starting November 2nd, Catalan conversation sessions will also resume at the Centre Cívic Gregal on Mondays from 6:30 PM to 8 PM.
In Cambrils, activities to promote the use of Catalan include the discussion group Fem-la petar, which meets every Wednesday from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Restaurant Vil·la Paquita, and the new Easy Reading Club, held on Wednesdays from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Centre Cultural.
