The Comuns party in Reus demanded on February 16 a serious, long-term investment plan to ensure the safety and future of the Fortuny Theater.

Following the temporary closure of the historic venue, the party considers the situation a major blow to the city's cultural heritage. They warned that the closure causes significant disruption for promoters, performers, and audiences across the Camp de Tarragona region.

Cultural heritage needs planning, not improvisation.

The group urged Mayor Sandra Guaita and Culture Councilor Daniel Recasens to expedite the reopening process. They also addressed Noemí Llauradó, president of the Diputació de Tarragona, seeking institutional support for the theater's structural needs.
The proposal includes moving away from reactive repairs towards a preventive maintenance strategy. This approach would also cover other local landmarks such as Cal Massó and the Castell del Cambrer to prevent future technical failures.
