The act of rejection took place at 12 noon and served to remember the four women allegedly murdered by their partners or ex-partners in different provinces across Spain. The cases occurred in Badajoz (78-year-old woman, January 12), Cádiz (58-year-old woman, January 11), Las Palmas (43-year-old woman, January 5), and Jaén (38-year-old woman, January 4).

With the confirmation of these cases, official data from the Ministry of Equality raise the number of women murdered due to gender violence in 2026 to 4. Since the official count began in 2003, the total number of fatal victims amounts to 1,346. In the previous year, 2025, 47 femicides were confirmed.
The Reus council also joined the three days of mourning decreed by the Generalitat due to the railway accident that occurred in Amaduz (Córdoba). Furthermore, the City Council reminds citizens of the support services available for victims of gender violence in the city, such as the Women's Information and Assistance Service (SIAD) and the Victim Assistance Office (OAV).
