The former president of the Fundació Futbol Base Reus (FFBR), Xavi Guix, reviews his seven years leading the entity after stepping down last December in Reus, emphasizing the growth of women's football and the Genuine project.

After seven years of intense dedication, Xavi Guix decided to step aside following the derby played on December 14 between the Reus women's team and Riudoms. Despite leaving the daily dynamics, he will continue as president until June and remain linked to the board, ensuring the entity is left in good hands. Guix explained that the decision to seek a replacement was made a year and a half ago due to the strain of institutional, economic, and sponsorship management, a task he shared with the FFBR secretary, Miguel Altamirano.

"The feeling is bittersweet. Sweet, because now I can dedicate time again to aspects I had abandoned, starting with my personal life. But it is also bitter: the Fundació Futbol Base Reus is like a daughter."

One of the pillars of his management has been the sustained growth of the sports area, especially in women's football. When he started, there were only three teams, and now the structure is complete, from U-8s to the first team. Guix proudly stated that the FFBR is currently “the best formative women's club in the demarcation.” Furthermore, he highlighted the Reus Genuine project, considering it “one of the most beautiful experiences” due to its high human value and connection with families.
Guix reflected on the complexity of maintaining the balance between values and results, arguing that the former must always be a priority. He also addressed the challenge of competing with powerful youth academies like those of Barça or Espanyol, acknowledging that it is difficult to retain players who see these clubs as an opportunity for professional football. He recalled the importance of figures like Marc Carrasco, who was fundamental in coordinating youth football and achieving the promotion of the youth team to Nacional.
The replacement was handled internally with Òscar Vallverdú, one of the founders of the FFBR, who will assume daily, institutional, and economic management. Guix advises him to remain faithful to his convictions and continue prioritizing the human aspect and values over strictly sporting matters.
