A woman died on Wednesday night at Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona due to serious injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle accident on the AP-7 near Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet de l'Infant.

The accident occurred on Wednesday evening, around 8:30 PM, at kilometer point 279 of the motorway heading southbound. According to the Catalan Traffic Service, up to eight vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, and a truck, were involved in the collision.

The accident forced the closure of the southbound motorway for several hours, causing significant traffic congestion.

The total toll of the incident is ten injured people, including the deceased driver. Two of those affected are in critical condition and were transferred, along with the driver who later died, to Joan XXIII Hospital.
The Mossos d'Esquadra have opened an investigation to determine the exact causes of the crash. The Medical Emergency System (SEM) mobilized up to ten ambulances to assist the victims, while the rest of the lightly injured were discharged at the scene. The resulting traffic jams required diversions via the A-7 near Cambrils.
