The Vandellòs and l'Hospitalet de l'Infant Town Council presented today, October 1st, on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, the new Guide to services and resources for the elderly. This document's primary objective is to help seniors in the municipality understand the available services and resources and know where to turn when they need them.
The guide is part of the Municipal Plan for Active and Healthy Aging 2025-2028. The mayor, Assumpció Castellví, highlighted that the initiative is part of the council's commitment to active and healthy aging, aiming for seniors to be protagonists in the municipality with autonomy and quality of life, reinforcing a proximity policy.
The document has been designed as a clear and practical tool, consolidating information on social welfare, day centers, residences, health, pharmacies, emergency and security services. It also includes sections on social life, volunteering, municipal centers, culture, and sports, as well as municipal services like the Línea Verde app and the Energy Office.
The mayor emphasized the goal of providing a simple and useful tool to make information accessible, ensuring no one misses out on a resource due to lack of knowledge. The guides are available at the Vandellòs Town Hall and the Casa de la Vila in l'Hospitalet de l'Infant.
As part of the commemoration, the manifesto “We retire from work, not from life” was also read in Vandellòs and l'Hospitalet de l'Infant, with the participation of representatives from local entities and promoted by the Federation of Pensioners and Retirees of CCOO de Catalunya and the Council for the Elderly of Catalonia.
“"A society that cares for its elderly is a society that cares for itself"
The manifesto advocates for the role of older persons, defends the right to age with dignity and equality, and addresses issues such as loneliness, ageism, the digital divide, and social and cultural participation.
