Ana Aragón, previously affiliated with the PSC, has confirmed that despite leaving the party, she will retain her councilor seat and join the non-attached group. Her decision stems from her refusal to be part of an organization that, according to her account, has condoned micro-machismo behaviors and non-consensual recordings among its members.
“"I do not want to be part of an organization that has condoned micro-machismo behaviors and non-consensual recordings among members of the same party."
The councilor stated that these actions violate the trust and basic principles of coexistence and respect that should govern any political organization. Furthermore, she pointed out that these practices have not only gone unpunished but have been internally protected and subsequently used for political purposes.
According to Aragón, the recorded conversations and actions were allegedly used for months to destabilize the municipal government, with the complicity of opposition parties. She lamented that political interests have overridden ethics and criticized that the situation has culminated in a motion of no confidence, which she believes had been prepared for some time.
The councilor explained that until April 17, she still hoped to resolve the situation and even requested time to consider her resignation to facilitate a resolution to the crisis. However, she stated that the motion was announced in less than 24 hours, which precipitated her final decision to leave the party.
