According to Del Amo, the dismissal, involving three different political parties, cannot be prepared in a single day, as suggested by its presentation the day after the deputy mayor left the local executive. The Junts mayor believes that the internal crisis among PSC councilors was used as a pretext for councilor Xavier de la Fuente to ally with the opposition.
The mayor has defended her management of the council, emphasizing that municipal debt has been halved and more has been invested in two and a half years than in the two previous ERC mandates. For Del Amo, the agreement between ERC, Entesa, and the PSC confirms the warnings of councilor Ana Aragón, who was expelled by the socialists.
Aragón had refused to invest De la Fuente as mayor, as agreed between Junts and the PSC, arguing that her party leader was in contact with the opposition to destabilize the local government. The local PSC assembly unanimously supported De la Fuente and labeled Aragón a defector. Faced with the mayor's reluctance to resign without a seven-vote majority, the first deputy mayor announced his departure from the government in Monday's plenary session, and on Wednesday, he presented the no-confidence motion.
“"You cannot work on a no-confidence motion in one day and call the press the day after resigning. This has been worked on for months, and I believe they made it look good to provoke the ousting of Junts from the government."
Del Amo added that the stability of the municipal government was guaranteed, recalling that all points were voted unanimously in Monday's plenary session. She concluded that the only justification for the motion is 'the seat one year before the elections'.
The mayor noted that the new government team will find a 'very beneficial economic outlook', with a 'pending' injection of funds for the City Council to be announced soon, favoring projects such as the improvement of public roads, paths, and the Auditorium. She defended that the sale of the elderly residence and criticisms of advisor Ricardo Llaó are also excuses. Del Amo insisted that the sale of the residence was necessary to clear a debt of over 6 million euros claimed by the managing company. Regarding Llaó, she assured that his appointment was an 'imposition' by the PSC in the investiture pact, but that he has been 'a key figure for the economic recovery of the municipality'. Llaó resigned on Tuesday, as he believed he had joined the council through Xavier de la Fuente.
