The new location at the port's dry dock in l'Ametlla de Mar was crucial for the success of the Red Tuna Festival, transforming the municipality into a hub of activity and celebration. Despite adverse weather on Sunday, thousands of visitors came to sample a variety of dishes made with this emblematic product, ranging from sushi to stews.
The organizers reported selling over 10,000 tickets, with 9,000 for tuna tastings and approximately 1,400 for DO Terra Alta wines. The Tourism Department of l'Ametlla de Mar highlighted the suitability of the new venue, which allowed for a large marquee and various tasting areas, all accompanied by a festive atmosphere and good music.
The presence of red tuna continues in the fishing town of Baix Ebre until Sunday, April 19, with the celebration of the Red Tapas Route and the Gastronomic Days. On the tapas route, 14 local bars offer a tuna tapa with an Estrella Damm beer for 5 euros, with an estimated 12,000 tapas expected to be served.
Concurrently, 17 local restaurants are presenting monographic menus dedicated to red tuna, with prices ranging from 30 to 70 euros. These menus feature traditional recipes, such as tuna rice, alongside innovative proposals like bao buns with tuna cheek, Pullet Tuna croquettes, or tuna 'torreznos'.
