The Platform for the Defense of the Ebro (PDE) will celebrate the 25th edition of its Piragua on June 21st, an event set to showcase the «generational leap» in activism for the river and the enduring passion of its supporters.

This quarter-century milestone will serve to highlight the vitality of the fight for the Ebro, emphasizing advancements in areas such as promotion and ticket sales, alongside an expanding network of collaborators. This year's piragua will feature participation from the Riu Viu festival in Aldover and students from Sant Llàtzer school in Tortosa, who have designed the protest banner and a promotional campaign.
Tickets are now available at Ebre Ticket. The event will commence in Xerta and conclude in Tortosa, with a special stop in Aldover. There, coinciding with the Riu Viu Festival, participants will enjoy a breakfast at popular prices and receive discounts for the festival.

"When we were very young, we already experienced the first demonstrations, and now we organize a festival where the river is the protagonist. We don't want its death, and that's why we are very excited to collaborate with the platform and defend our river, which brings us together so much and fosters so much culture."

The Piragua, initially a protest event, has become a «classic» in the defense of the Ebro. Spokesperson Mireia Palos stated, «One can only defend what one knows and loves, and hence the desire to get people into the river once a year because the perspective from within changes completely».
This year's banner was designed by 5th-grade students from Sant Llàtzer school in Tortosa, as part of a river-focused project that also includes the creation of posters and a podcast about the Ebro by students Èric and Clàudia.
