Amiblu Pipes Spain Contributes to London Energy Plant from Camarles

Amiblu Pipes Spain, with its factory in Camarles (Tarragona), is involved in the construction of a next-generation energy recovery plant in Edmonton, north London, which will transform waste into electricity.

This new infrastructure, awarded to Acciona in 2022, aims to convert non-recyclable waste generated by over two million residents into electricity, heating, and hot water, benefiting up to 127,000 homes. The project is part of the North London Waste Authority (NLWA)'s ambitious plan to modernize Edmonton EcoPark, Europe's oldest waste-to-energy plant, operational since 1971.
The facility, designed with high quality and sustainability standards, will be capable of processing 700,000 tons of residual waste annually to generate energy. Amiblu is responsible for the plant's gas conduction system, from the extraction fan to a 100-meter chimney. The supplied system includes approximately 520 meters of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) DN2600 pipes and fittings, manufactured with high-performance vinylester resin specifically formulated to resist chemical corrosion and temperatures exceeding 130 ºC.
The installation is divided into two parallel lines, with a horizontal section located about 30 meters high and a vertical section, the most technically complex, exceeding 112 meters above the plant's ground level. Amiblu is developing the project from its factory in Camarles (Tarragona) under a turnkey modality, which includes detailed engineering, supply of pipes and accessories, and supervision of assembly.
This infrastructure is crucial for London, where over 223 tons of waste are generated every hour. The new plant is expected to become operational in 2027. Amiblu is internationally recognized for its advanced solutions in complex industrial projects, offering GRP pipes with high durability in aggressive environments and mechanical resistance.
