The Government of Deltebre has unanimously approved the Third Municipal Women's Policy Plan, a strategic document that will guide actions on gender equality until 2031.
The April plenary session of the Deltebre City Council saw the unanimous approval of the Third Municipal Women's Policy Plan. This strategic document, which will guide the local administration's gender equality initiatives for the next five years, is the result of a collaborative process.
The Plan's development involved the participation of the URV Foundation and the Intercultural Education and Gender Research Group (GREDI), along with Dr. Rosa Queral. It also integrated contributions from entities, women's associations, educational centers, municipal services, and specialized technicians. The text includes a comprehensive diagnosis of the situation of women in the municipality across areas such as employment, health, education, and security, as well as an evaluation of the previous plan, which served as a basis for defining new actions.
“
"Deltebre has made significant progress in gender equality in recent years, but this new Plan sets our course to continue moving forward."
The document is structured around 14 strategic axes addressing various areas. These include digital support for women's associations, the expansion of childcare services at public events, the promotion of parity and female leadership within the municipal structure, work-life balance and co-responsibility, and the prevention and handling of gender-based violence.
“
"This Plan is a roadmap that should allow us to consolidate and strengthen the actions we are already developing, but also to advance in those areas where more effort is needed. The goal is for equality to be a structural axis of the municipality and not be limited to specific or sectoral actions."
One of the new Plan's priorities is to rebalance municipal efforts towards areas with less activity until now, such as work-life balance and gender mainstreaming in all municipal policies. The objective is for equality not to be restricted to the cultural sphere but to imply a structural reform of the municipality. In this vein, the ERC councilor emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen gender mainstreaming, time management, and the approach to gender-based violence as fundamental pillars of the Plan's implementation.
The plenary session also included the presentation of the annual report by the Ombudswoman of Deltebre, detailing actions carried out over the past year. 22 interventions were managed, five more than the previous year, in addition to the campaign for collecting allegations related to the boundary demarcation of Deltebre.
Furthermore, the project to replace all public lighting in the municipality with LED technology was unanimously approved, an initiative aimed at improving energy efficiency, sustainability, and lighting quality. Concurrently, a motion was passed in defense of rural and maritime development, the LEADER program, and the Mediterranean fishing model in anticipation of the future financial framework of the European Union.
