The Deltebre City Council, in collaboration with SEGITTUR, has launched a strategic plan with 37 initiatives to create agritourism experiences, aiming to diversify the local economy and strengthen territorial identity.

The rice fields, mussel farms, and traditional fishing of the Ebro Delta are set to be transformed into tourist experiences designed to attract visitors and generate new economic opportunities. To this end, the Deltebre City Council, together with SEGITTUR, has unveiled the Impulse Plan for the creation of agritourism experiences.
This strategic document outlines 37 actions aimed at strengthening the link between the primary sector and tourism. The plan is the result of collaborative work with producers, businesses, and local stakeholders, seeking to diversify economic activity, promote tourism de-seasonality, and foster new business opportunities tied to the region.

"The primary sector is part of our identity, our essence, and our landscape. This plan will enable us to create new opportunities for producers to complement their activities while offering authentic and distinctive experiences to our visitors."

Lluís Soler · Mayor of Deltebre
The plan is structured around four key areas: professionalizing the sectors involved, enhancing the value of production infrastructure and spaces, establishing regulations and incentives, and creating, promoting, and marketing new primary sector-linked tourism products. Planned initiatives include developing experiences related to rice cultivation and fishing, improving the signage of production sites, establishing a product club, and promoting thematic routes.

"This plan not only identifies opportunities but also defines the necessary actions to turn them into viable projects. It is an instrument that will allow us to continue working collaboratively with the primary and tourism sectors to generate new experiences, economic opportunities, and greater visibility for our products and territory."

Lola Casanova · Councillor for Tourism Focus, Sustainability, and Beaches
Deltebre has been selected as one of five municipalities nationwide to participate in this project, which falls under the Sustainable Innovation Model for Agritourism Experiences (MISEA), developed in conjunction with the State Secretariat for Tourism via SEGITTUR. Throughout the project, ten local businesses have engaged in workshops and mentoring to develop new agritourism experiences.
