The New Water Culture Foundation has warned in Tortosa about the environmental impact and water resource management challenges posed by gigafactories, particularly in water-scarce regions.

The general assembly of the New Water Culture Foundation, held in Tortosa, focused on the environmental impact of gigafactories, specifically concerning water resource management. The entity's president, Júlia Martínez, indicated that the "accelerated" deployment of these large companies in areas with limited water availability could create competition with human supply.
Martínez referred to the potential installation of a gigafactory in Móra la Nova and criticized the lack of state-level planning. "Many data center projects are arriving in Spain, and they are being given a red carpet," she stated.

Furthermore, the foundation has called on civil society to actively participate in the upcoming public consultation for the new Ebro River hydrological plan, a crucial step for water resource planning and management in the basin.
