This initiative, driven by the center's Memory Workshop, primarily aims to commemorate the tragic bombings of April 15, 1938, one of the most devastating episodes the city endured during the Spanish Civil War. These attacks positioned Tortosa among the most heavily affected locations, leading it to often be referred to as the “Catalan Gernika”.
Among the activities scheduled for this edition, a highlight is the orientation race titled 'Tortosa Bombed by Francoism', an educational proposal that turns the city's streets into an interactive learning space. Additionally, the memorial route 'Tortosa, the Catalan Gernika' is organized, allowing participants to delve into the historical dimension of the attacks and understand the subsequent physical and human reconstruction process.
The program also includes the inauguration of the exhibition 'Joaquim Amat-Piniella: writing against silence', which introduces students to testimonial literature and emphasizes the value of writing as a form of resistance against barbarism. Complementarily, a talk titled 'Guerrilla Resistance against Franco' will be given by Joan Boada, a member of the Amical de Guerrillers de Catalunya, to explore the anti-Franco struggle and various forms of resistance to the regime.
