The first motion, presented on January 29, focuses on what the party describes as a “structural collapse” of the Rodalies and Regional rail services. This situation is attributed to decades of underfunding and lack of investment by the State, causing constant delays and cancellations that affect the working and family lives of users in the Terres de l’Ebre.
The spokesperson for Junts pel Baix Ebre, Òscar Ologaray, highlighted the severity of the situation, especially due to the loss of key services such as the Euromed train stop at the L’Aldea-Amposta-Tortosa station. The motion demands the fulfillment of the historical debt in infrastructure and the increase of Avant frequencies between Tortosa and Barcelona.
The group demands the real and full transfer of Rodalies and Regional services to the Generalitat, along with the corresponding economic resources.
The second initiative focuses on healthcare, specifically the Stroke Unit at the Hospital Universitari Joan XXIII in Tarragona. Junts denounces that this service only operates eight hours on weekdays, leaving patients without crucial coverage in a pathology where time is vital.
In light of this deficiency, the county group demands the expansion of the stroke service to 24 hours, seven days a week. Furthermore, they advocate for a more decentralized healthcare model to guarantee territorial equity in access to high-complexity treatments for Baix Ebre residents.
