Junts per Tortosa has pointed out the absence of a technical report justifying that the improvements made to a road ended shortly after the mayor's place of residence. This group considers there to be political interest in the matter.
The governing team of Tortosa has responded to these accusations through a press release, describing the claims of alleged irregularities as «totally false, unfounded, and manipulated». According to the statement, this is an attempt to erode the mayor's image and to hide an alleged lie by Junts per Tortosa in the last municipal plenary session.
Mayor Mar Lleixà explained that the road work is part of the maintenance plan for the road network and that it was a pending action for years, responding solely to «technical and safety criteria».
This action was included within a package of improvements for four different roads, with a total cost of 34,995 euros. The section in question, on the Cèlio slope, involved an investment of 4,400 euros, as detailed by the Councilor for Services, Marga Abelló.
Municipal technical services decided to start the work in November, beginning at the start of the road, which is used by all residents. Other emergency repairs were also carried out on different sections.
