The controversy arose following the debate on a motion regarding rail transport in the Terres de l'Ebre region. During the session, a parliamentary group questioned the lack of integration of the bus project with the future design of the l'Aldea-Tortosa-Amposta railway station, arguing that it should be the only intermodal hub in the area.
In response to these statements, the Baix Ebre council has defended the need for the bus infrastructure, which is supported by a company in the sector. According to the local government, the project is essential to improve regional mobility and dignify a space that is currently disused.
The council has emphasized that, while maintaining its commitment to a future intermodal station, it cannot halt an initiative that expects to serve nearly 120,000 users annually. Municipal officials have described the criticism as a direct attack on a project they consider vital for the region's development.
