The Municipal Emergency Service (SUM) of l'Ametlla de Mar concluded 2025 with a positive balance, highlighting the successful restoration of its full 24-hour daily operation.

The service recorded 743 activations throughout the year, a slight increase compared to 2024. This milestone was achieved by expanding the staff with a new nurse and a technician, ensuring maximum availability for the local community. Health Councilor Maria José Castellano emphasized the value of having local professionals in the team.

"The fact that the staff is mostly local is an added bonus for a service that has been active for 25 years."

A key trend in 2025 was the surge in home care visits, which rose from 36 to 117 interventions. This shift addresses the needs of an aging population, particularly those over 75 years old, aiming to provide medical support without requiring unnecessary hospital transfers.
The 10-member team has integrated innovative technology, such as the Doctomatic monitoring system and rural geolocation apps. Most calls were related to traumatic injuries from falls, followed by abdominal issues and neurological conditions.
