The Mossos d'Esquadra police force launched an extensive inspection operation for heavy vehicles this Thursday morning on the AP-7 highway at the Baix Ebre service area in l'Aldea.

Around forty officers are participating in the deployment, diverting trucks to check compliance with traffic regulations. Inspections focus on driver rest periods and cargo weight, as overloading is responsible for 25% of accidents involving these vehicles.

"These controls are carried out to prevent accidents and avoid incidents on the highway, especially in the Ebro section where there are only two lanes."

Carles Gómez · Head of the Central Transport Inspection Area of the Traffic Division
The operation uses CRC technology to read tachographs remotely and a helicopter to enforce the 80 km/h speed limit. Additionally, canine units and technical inspectors are checking for illegal substances and ensuring vehicles meet safety standards.
