Officers from the Mossos d'Esquadra's Investigation Unit of Tortosa arrested two men, aged 48 and 49, on April 29, as alleged perpetrators of crimes against public health and electricity fraud.

The investigation commenced in early March 2026 after receiving information about unusual activities in an industrial warehouse that appeared to be disused. Recurring parked vehicles, internal noises, and lights at night were observed, despite the windows being completely boarded up.
Officers verified that the warehouse had active ventilation systems, high and irregular electricity consumption, and a strong smell of marijuana outside, all indications suggesting the presence of an indoor plantation.
Given these findings, a police operation was organized, culminating on April 29 with a raid and search of the warehouse. Personnel from the Investigation Unit and the Regional Operational Resources Area (ARRO) of Terres de l'Ebre participated in the operation.
Inside, a complete setup for intensive marijuana cultivation was discovered, including a compartmentalized greenhouse and all necessary infrastructure for artificial plant growth. Over 1,500 marijuana plants in an advanced flowering state were seized, along with numerous ventilation, lighting, and climate control equipment. During the operation, the two individuals responsible for the plantation were arrested.
Technicians from the electricity company confirmed that the warehouse had a fraudulent connection to the grid, with the installation manipulated to avoid consumption registration. The illegal connection was cut, and safety conditions were restored. The estimated value of the seized drugs on the illicit market exceeds 115,000 euros.
The two detainees were brought before the duty investigating court in Tortosa on April 30.
