The RiuViu festival has transformed the river beach of Aldover into a meeting point for the cultural and gastronomic ecosystem of the Terres de l'Ebre. This first edition champions rural life, intertwining culture, territory, and local products across a three-day program. According to director Aida Mayor, "the idea is to build community and defend proximity and cooperation among ourselves".
Yesterday's schedule included children's workshops and vermouth tasting, with circus performances and a hot air balloon launch planned for the evening. The organization celebrated selling over 600 passes for activities scheduled until Sunday, noting a "good reception" that led to sold-out paid events.
Promoted by the cultural association Iau!, the festival's central theme is local culture, aiming to make it accessible in rural municipalities. The program features around thirty activities related to arts, nature, the territory, and gastronomy. "The objective is to promote the consumption of zero-kilometer products, but not just products, also art, culture, territory, and local providers," added Aida Mayor.
Headlining this edition are the group Sexenni and Joan Rovira, who will close the festival on Sunday. On Saturday, the swimming pool area hosted events like an aquagym session and a talk by Nati Audi, head of the ‘Desig Pagès’ project, sharing her family's experience with extra virgin olive oil from Aldover.
A hot air balloon installation at the football field will offer visitors a unique experience. On Sunday, the festival will also have a commemorative aspect, participating in the 25th Piraguada de la Plataforma en Defensa de l’Ebre (Ebro Defense Platform's Kayak Race), which will stop at Aldover's river beach. The afternoon will feature parades, storytelling, concerts, theatrical performances, children's games, and wine tastings.
