Hospital Santa Creu in Tortosa will conduct a fire and rescue drill on May 26th to evaluate self-protection protocols and coordination with various emergency services.

Next Tuesday, May 26th, an emergency drill will take place at the Hospital Santa Creu in Tortosa. The exercise, which will include a fire and a rescue, will be conducted in an on-site care unit and will involve a horizontal evacuation, moving affected individuals to a safe area on the same floor. The aim is to test security protocols and coordination among the different teams.
During the drill, the hospital's Self-Protection Plan (PAU) and the Municipal Civil Protection Plan (DUPROCIM) will be activated. The participation of external agencies such as Civil Protection, Mossos d’Esquadra, Firefighters, the SEM (Emergency Medical Service), and the Local Police, along with alerts to 112, the CECAT (Emergency Operations Coordination Centre of Catalonia), and the CRA of Tortosa City Council, are key to the test's success.
The mayor of Tortosa, has emphasized the importance of these exercises in ensuring the proper functioning of protocols and maximum coordination among emergency services. She thanked the hospital professionals and participating services for their involvement, recalling that "prevention and preparation are essential for providing a rapid, effective, and safe response".
For their part, the hospital's managing director highlighted that these drills are "fundamental for improving response capacity in emergency situations, strengthening coordination between teams, and ensuring the safety" of both staff and patients.
