The fire, which has advanced with intensity, has forced the activation of level 4 of the Pla Alfa, resulting in the total closure of access to the massif. This measure, affecting twenty municipalities, will remain in force until midnight on Friday, when the situation will be re-evaluated based on weather conditions.
Officials from the Consorci de les Gavarres have pointed out the insufficiency of current resources, which largely depend on irregular subsidies and the financial efforts of local councils. According to experts, forest management is hindered by the terrain's topography and bureaucratic complexity regarding plots without a clear owner.
On the other hand, the Government has defended the current prevention strategy, highlighting the deployment of a forest corridor plan to prevent the continuity of vegetation mass. Authorities have confirmed that resources have been allocated to self-protection strips in residential areas to minimize risks during the heatwave.
