Extinguishing teams are working to contain the right flank of the forest fire in the Gavarres, which has burned approximately 2,200 hectares and forced the maintenance of several preventive lockdowns.

The Firefighters have managed to contain the right flank of the fire, a strategic area to prevent the spread towards Girona. Despite the progress, those in charge of the operation have warned that the coming hours will be decisive due to the effect of the sea breeze, which keeps the perimeter in a fragile state.
The provisional damage assessment indicates that five buildings have been affected, one of them completely, in residential areas of Calonge and Santa Cristina d'Aro. Authorities have decided to extend the lockdown orders in several municipalities in the area to ensure the safety of residents and avoid risks during the extinguishing efforts.
Furthermore, the Rural Agents have confirmed that the Gavarres massif remains closed to any sports or leisure activity until next Thursday. A device formed by several security forces is ensuring compliance with this restriction in around twenty affected towns.
