Thousands of teachers and students protested this Wednesday in Tortosa to demand salary increases and lower classroom ratios across the Terres de l'Ebre region.

The protest began with a slow-drive convoy from l'Aldea to Tortosa, causing traffic disruptions on the C-42 highway. According to unions, the strike saw a 90% turnout in the area, reflecting deep dissatisfaction within the educational sector.

"This is a historic day for education in Terres de l'Ebre and all of Catalonia."

Unions including USTEC, UGT, and CCOO are calling for the recovery of lost purchasing power and more resources for inclusive schools. Further strikes are planned for March if the Department of Education fails to negotiate.
