Tortosa's Plaça de l'Absis will host the final showcase of the Mapadeball project this Friday, featuring one hundred students from two local institutes.

Over the past few months, students from Dertosa and Cristòfol Despuig institutes have been immersed in creating the piece UMHLABA, which means 'world' in Zulu. This work was conceived by Sílvia Sant Funk and Mònica Muntaner, combining education, contemporary creation, and collective effort.
The Mapadeball project is part of the II Dance Promotion Plan 2023-2026, an initiative by the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya. It is led by the Mercat de les Flors and the Xarxa Transversal, coordinated by the AGITART Technical Office, and aims to connect young people, teachers, artists, and cultural institutions through dance.
In Tortosa, the program is developed through collaboration between the City Council, participating educational centers, and the support of the Territorial Education Services and the Baix Ebre Educational Service (CRP). This synergy allows culture and education to merge into innovative projects.
The performances will take place on Friday, May 8. The first show, at 11:30 AM, will be for the participating institute students. Subsequently, at 7:00 PM, a second show will be offered, open to families and the general public.
