Led by architects Carles Brull and Andreu Alfonso, the project focused on the apse area, where 500 architectural elements such as gargoyles and stained glass were restored. The intervention also completed the battlements started in the 14th century, finally protecting the building from rainwater damage.
“"It is a true jewel in the upper part of the cathedral, an extraordinary reliquary of French-style richness."
The 552,742 euro investment was funded by the Ministry of Housing and the Tarragona Provincial Council. Visitors will be able to explore the site in small groups, accessing the roof via the Santa Catalina staircase to view the intricate medieval craftsmanship up close.
