The mayor of Tortosa, Mar Lleixà, held a meeting this Wednesday with union representatives from the two municipal management centers that could be transferred to CatSalut: the Hospital de la Santa Creu de Jesús and the Clínica Terres de l'Ebre. The meeting's objective was to provide information on a process expected to "accelerate," as established in the agreement between ERC and PSC to support this year's Generalitat budgets.
Union sources present at the meeting described the proposal as "good in principle" and "makes sense," as explained to ebredigital.cat. However, they expressed the need to be "cautious," as "beyond intentions, many aspects are still undefined." The workers' representatives hope to learn "how it will be specified" and have "certainties," such as an implementation timeline, and to understand how the three lines of action outlined in the parties' agreement will unfold.
The consulted sources pointed out that the two situations are different. Regarding the Hospital de Jesús, given the promise to absorb jobs, clarification is needed on the future of services currently offered by the center, such as laundry and maintenance, which CatSalut does not provide. Similarly, the situation of the residence workers, who depend on the Department of Social Rights and not Health, needs to be clarified.
