Around fifty teachers from the El Temple school in Tortosa occupied the building this Tuesday to protest against the collapse of the educational system ahead of a planned strike.

With tables and chairs turned upside down to symbolize that the educational system is failing, teachers aimed to draw attention to the deterioration of this social pillar. Teacher Néstor Ferré states that the staff is completely overwhelmed by high ratios and insufficient support for inclusion.

"We cannot reach everyone; we have to diversify but we are saturated. I am a geography teacher, not a psycho-pedagogue."

"We want to create a precedent for mobilization. We are leaving the education of our teenagers in the hands of TikTok and the far-right."

Professionals also criticize being assigned roles beyond teaching, such as managing extreme poverty cases or detecting family abuse, without the necessary specialist support or proper tools.
