Tortosa to host international symposium on medieval legal code in 2027

The Duran&Martí Foundation and the European University of Andorra partner to study the historic Costums de Tortosa.

The Duran&Martí Private Foundation and the European University of Andorra have signed a cooperation agreement in Tortosa to promote scientific research on Catalan and Andorran legal history.

The main focus of this partnership is the 1st History Symposium of the Costums de Tortosa, scheduled for autumn 2027. The event marks the 750th anniversary of one of the most significant medieval legal codes in the region.
The official signing took place at the Tortosa Chamber of Commerce, attended by foundation president Lluís Pegueroles Ariño, rector Antoni Noguero, and Mayor Mar Lleixà.

Experts will analyze the document, which is among the first legal texts written in the Catalan language, comparing it with other Western European codes to understand its social and institutional impact.
