The VI Economic Forum of Terres de l'Ebre will take place on May 28 at the Centre Cívic Ferreries in Tortosa, aiming to discuss the region's new energy horizon.

The Tortosa City Council and the Tortosa Chamber of Commerce today presented the program for the VI Economic Forum of Terres de l'Ebre, scheduled for May 28 at the Centre Cívic Ferreries. The event will focus on the theme 'Transforming Energy: a new Energy Horizon for Terres de l'Ebre', addressing the challenges of the new energy model.

"We are fully immersed in a period of energy transition, also in Tortosa and the Terres de l'Ebre."

the mayor of Tortosa
The PLATER forecast from the Generalitat indicates that the Terres de l'Ebre will install 25% of Catalonia's wind power and 4.6% of its photovoltaic power by 2050. This means the region will contribute at least 13% of renewable energy in the next 25 years, a scenario requiring preparation, especially with the closure of nuclear power plants.
The forum is designed as a space for reflection and debate on energy transition and its impact on the territory, industry, and society. It will bring together institutional representatives, technical and legal experts, and economic agents to build a collective vision of the energy model needed for the Terres de l'Ebre.
Throughout the morning, the forum will feature high-level technical presentations and open debate sessions. Key issues such as the future of energy transition in Catalonia, industrial decarbonization, regulatory changes in storage and self-consumption, and the integration of key technologies like bioenergy, batteries, and waste management will be discussed.
Additionally, the CEL Cambra Ebre project, a local energy community comprising nine municipalities, will be presented as a success story. This initiative, nearly completed with 14 installations and 270 members, demonstrates the potential of actions promoted by the Chamber's energy transition office.
The forum will conclude with a round table titled 'Integrating Technologies for Efficient Energy Transition', featuring various experts from the energy and waste sectors.
