The Partit dels Socialistes de Catalunya (PSC) in l'Ametlla de Mar has expressed concern over councillor Ana Aragón's decision not to honor the government pact with Junts, which stipulated the mayoralty for the socialists.

The socialist party in Baix Ebre has publicly accused its councillor, Ana Aragón, of political defection. This accusation stems from her refusal to respect the governance agreement established with Junts, which stipulated that the PSC would assume the mayoralty of the municipality during the current term.
In an assembly held last Saturday, the PSC's membership unanimously supported the position defended by Xavier de la Fuente, the party's lead candidate. According to the pact with Junts, which has held the mayoralty since the beginning of the legislature, De la Fuente is expected to be invested as mayor in a plenary session scheduled for this April.

This is a clear case of political defection favored by Junts with the aim of retaining the mayoralty and avoiding compliance with the government pact.

The PSC has stated its unawareness of any potential negotiations between councillor Aragón and Junts. However, it has warned that any understanding to maintain municipal government with a single individual, without party support, would be an unsustainable situation. They have directly pointed to Mayor Eva del Amo for sustaining the municipality's governance in a situation they deem 'politically and democratically unsustainable'.
The socialist party has warned that if the municipal plenary session next Monday does not respect the government pact and this situation of defection is consolidated, Xavier de la Fuente will leave the local executive and move into opposition.
