An empty train caught fire at the Tortosa station on Saturday evening, causing the complete interruption of railway service in the city, affecting key regional lines.

The incident occurred on a train that was parked and unoccupied. This situation meant that the Tortosa station, which is the terminus for the R16 line of Rodalies de Catalunya, had no operational arrivals or departures.
The interruption affects both R16 line trains and several mid-distance services connecting the cities of Barcelona and Valencia, causing severe disruption to regional mobility.
As reported by Adif, the fire was intense enough to cut the catenary located directly above the train. Firefighters and technical staff were immediately activated to begin resolution efforts and repair the damaged infrastructure.
