The Majorcan artist Isabel Servera inaugurates her installation Perímetre de Seguretat at the Escola d'Art i Cultura de la Diputació in Tortosa next Friday, January 16.

The exhibition, curated by Pilar Cruz, can be visited at the Escola d'Art i Cultura de la Diputació in the capital of Baix Ebre until February 28. The work, previously presented at the CREA l'H festival (Hospitalet, 2023) and at ARCOmadrid (2024), is a site specific installation.
Perímetre de Seguretat originates from a visual investigation into public works and the use of plastic signaling elements to form security perimeters. The piece transforms these everyday elements using artisanal techniques such as low-warp tapestry.
This transformation is not only physical but also symbolic, representing the border between citizens and construction sites, and raising a reflection on the right of access and occupation of space according to the community's socioeconomic context.
The use of craftsmanship is a common thread in Servera's work, seeking to reflect on the intertwining of the pre-industrial world and late capitalism, especially regarding notions of work organization and the economic exploitation of resources.
Born in Mallorca in 1986 and based in Barcelona, Isabel Servera holds a degree in Fine Arts and a Master's from the UB. She has exhibited in spaces such as the Museu Can Framis and Es Baluard, and received the II Barbara H. Weil Award, including an artistic residency in New York.
