The Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, through the Catalan Waste Agency (ARC), has approved an injection of over 630,000 euros for several municipalities in the Terres de l’Ebre region to enhance selective waste collection systems over the next 36 months.

This significant economic allocation aims primarily to promote the implementation of efficient collection models that increase recycling rates and advance towards a circular economy model in the region. The aid is part of the sustainable waste management policy.
Among the main beneficiaries, the Tortosa City Council will receive 83,892.17 euros, while the Ascó City Council will obtain 11,973.71 euros. The majority of the funds, 541,880.54 euros, will be allocated to the Consortium for Waste Management of Ribera d’Ebre and Priorat.
The funded actions are linked to improving the selective collection of bio-waste, home composting, the management of used cooking oils, and the collection of textile waste. These initiatives seek to contribute to significant savings in natural resources.
A key requirement for accessing this aid was the commitment to implement collection models that identify the user. These systems aim to incentivize the correct separation of waste. Funding can cover up to 90% of the total cost of the actions, which have a maximum execution period of three years.
