This year, the festival not only maintains its classic spaces but also expands to emblematic locations such as the Palau Episcopal, the Convent de la Puríssima, the courtyard of the Palau Despuig (home to the Conservatori de Música), and the Avançades de Sant Joan. The official presentation took place at the Aula Didàctica del Museu de Tortosa.
“"It is a cultural project that, in just five years, has consolidated itself as one of the great musical events in Tortosa and the Terres de l’Ebre."
As explained by Mayor Mar Lleixà, the festival goes beyond bringing the piano to the streets, as it represents a meeting point between artists, heritage, and citizens. Conceived by pianists Maria Lombarte and Manel Miró, Toca'm maintains its social and pedagogical vocation, with pianos available to the public to be played throughout the city.
The artistic direction has designed a program with parity and a notable presence of local artists and original productions, offering a varied program that ranges from classical music to jazz, pop, and contemporary music. The inaugural concert will be on May 21 in the plaça de l'Absis, with a two-piano recital by Alex Alguacil and Yukiko Akagi. On the same day, Sira Hernández will perform at the Palau Episcopal.
Among the highlights, the singer-songwriter from Tortosa, Montse Castellà, accompanied by Josep Lanau, will premiere a show dedicated to the poet Zoraida Burgos in the Jardins del Príncep. The program includes performances by Kambrass Quintet, José Antonio Tolosa, Sara Blasco, Carles Benavent Trio, Magí Garcías, Diego Hervalejo, Marta Infante, La Companyia with El concert amagat, Maria Espuny, Alba Llorach, the Luxembourgish pianist Francesco Tristano, Chano Domínguez, Rodrigo G. Pahlen, Lídia Facerías, Edu Pons, Sheila Blanco, and Clara Aguilar.
The closing of the festival, on May 24, will feature concerts by Ayako Fujiki at the parc del Campus Terres de l'Ebre de la URV and Ariadna Tubau at the Pont Roig. The Sant Andreu Jazz Band will celebrate its 20th anniversary in the plaça de l'Ajuntament, and Manu Guix, with his band The Veterans, will close the edition in the plaça de la Catedral.
In this anniversary edition, Toca'm also expands beyond Tortosa, reaching Flix on April 25 and Cases d'Alcanar on July 4, after having been in Amposta and Ascó the previous year. The festival is complemented by activities such as Toca'm Social, Toca'm va a les Escoles, and the Bicitecla, which energize the city.
