The Hospital Universitari de Tortosa Verge de la Cinta (HUTVC) celebrates its 50th anniversary throughout 2026 with a program of recreational and scientific activities, and has submitted its candidacy for the Creu de Sant Jordi award.

The program of events to commemorate the center's half-century of life, inaugurated on November 22, 1976, as the Residencia Sanitària Verge de la Cinta, includes an exhibition, a commemorative book, and research conferences.

"Fifty years are much more than a numerical milestone. They are many years of life, overcoming, innovation, and, above all, people."

Maria Ferré · HUTVC Manager
Among the cultural initiatives is the creation of a tribute song, 'Quanta vida cap en 50 anys', composed by the local singer-songwriter Montse Castellà. Literary and artistic contests have also been called to design a sculpture for the new building.
The HUTVC, which was the first public hospital in the Terres de l'Ebre, has evolved into a reference university center. The celebration will be complemented by the creation of a dedicated website, a living exhibition about users, and open days.
