The protest was called following fatal accidents that occurred on consecutive days across the State, which led to strikes by train drivers. Galiana stressed that, despite solidarity with the drivers and mourning for the victims, the organization of the stoppages must guarantee users' right to mobility.
“"The platforms showed solidarity with the situation of the drivers and, of course, with the mourning for the person who died, but strikes must be organized with minimum services."
The spokesperson denounced the situation at the Tortosa station, where that morning there was no one informing travelers about alternative travel options, nor had any substitute service been enabled. In response, Galiana announced that the Government of the Generalitat would open files against Renfe today for failing to guarantee essential services.
Galiana described the current situation as “the perfect storm” resulting from accumulated lack of maintenance, the effects of the storm, consecutive misfortunes, and what she called a “covert strike by the drivers.” To reverse the crisis, she considers it essential that Renfe, Adif, and the Generalitat de Catalunya sit down to negotiate and called on politicians from the Terres de l'Ebre to demand a “clear reaction of positive discrimination” towards the territory.
