The renovation of the changing rooms and stands at the Begur Municipal Football Stadium improves conditions for the more than 200 athletes and families who are part of the fifteen teams of FE Begur and CF Begur. The inauguration, held last Saturday, October 17th, coincided with the presentation of the teams for the new season.
The mayor of Begur, Maite Selva, highlighted the importance of the renovation for the municipality and for the generations growing up connected to sports, stating that "a football field is much more than a playing surface: it is a place where children make their first friends, learn to win and lose, and where many families enjoy the passion and effort of their sons and daughters". Selva emphasized that this "is one of the major projects of this legislature, which responds to the needs of the clubs and allows for more adequate facilities".
The Councilor for Sports, Jordi Carreras, thanked all the people who contributed to making the renovation possible and the involvement of municipal workers. Carreras underlined that "Begur has taken a very important step forward with the new changing rooms and stands of the football field" and highlighted that the renovation represents a functional improvement for the daily life of the youth teams and the first team.
The intervention has allowed for the renovation of the facilities and the addition of six new changing rooms, two of which have a larger capacity, as well as complementary spaces for the athletes' needs. Changing rooms for referees and spaces for an office and physiotherapy care have also been provided. The improvement of the stands, in turn, offers more adequate conditions for families and fans attending matches.
The works are part of the project to improve municipal sports facilities and have involved an investment of over 1.5 million euros. The renovation, which affects a stadium built in 1959, represents a significant transformation of the facilities.
The day concluded with the presentation of the FE Begur and CF Begur teams for the 2026-2027 season, which comprise fifteen teams and over 200 athletes. Both the mayor and the councilor highlighted the educational, formative, and social work of the clubs, as well as the involvement of families, coaches, and all those who make sports activity possible in the municipality.
