The assault occurred on Comerç street in Colomers, a small municipality with just over 200 inhabitants. The events began shortly before six in the morning while the family, a couple with a minor, was asleep. The thieves accessed the dwelling and woke up the couple.
The assailants tied up the head of the household, a man who runs a rotisserie in Torroella de Montgrí. The armed criminals demanded 30,000 euros from the couple, ransacking the entire house in search of the cash they suspected was there.
Despite the violent nature of the assault, the masked men did not obtain the desired loot. They ultimately took jewelry, valuables, and a sum of money much lower than what they demanded. No family member was injured, and the minor did not witness the events, according to the Mossos d'Esquadra.
Police were alerted by the victims around eight in the morning. The investigation is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Area (AIC) of the Mossos d'Esquadra in Girona, who are searching for the five perpetrators and investigating the victims' background to clarify the incident.
