The Generalitat de Catalunya and the Baix Empordà County Council have launched Clic.cat Baix Ter, a flexible public transport service for dispersed rural communities.

This initiative aims to reduce private car dependency by connecting Torroella de Montgrí with towns such as Verges, Colomers, and Ullà. Users can book trips via the Nemi app or by phone, ensuring the vehicle only runs when there is actual demand from residents.

"People weren't asking for Clic.cat; they were asking to be able to go to the health center, the market, or the cinema without having to take the car."

Jordi Colomí · Mayor of Torroella de Montgrí
Operating from Monday to Saturday, the service targets key times for work, medical appointments, and education. Authorities expect the Clic.cat system to serve 12,000 passengers annually by 2027, providing a sustainable alternative in a region lacking a local railway network.
