The solidarity event held at Sant Antoni beach underscored the importance of ensuring an inclusive coastline. The municipal service "La platja a l'abast de tothom" (The beach within everyone's reach), operational since 2003, has seen significant growth, exceeding 600 assisted swims during the summer season, a 26% increase compared to previous years.
The initiative, supported by specialized staff, amphibious wheelchairs, shaded areas, and other adapted resources, facilitates beach enjoyment for individuals with reduced mobility. Entities such as MIFAS, Creu Roja (Red Cross), Fundació Ramon Noguera, Oxalis, Amistat, POTS, and Esguard collaborate in this service, located at the Costa Brava jetty beach in Sant Antoni.
Concurrently, improvements have been made to the coastal infrastructure, including the replacement of plastic walkways with concrete ones, the installation of new lifelines and railings, an adapted shower, and the removal of architectural barriers. These works have also widened nine beach access points to 1.80 meters.
The event also featured an inclusive adapted paddleboarding session, organized in collaboration with the entity Superando, allowing individuals with functional diversity to practice the sport in a safe environment.
